Chirantana Kar holds an M.Tech degree in Environment and Resources from Vellore Institute of Technologyand holds a master's degree in Environmental Science from Banaras Hindu University. Her expertise is in Integrated Waste Management (both municipal and hazardous). She initiated the "Green village project" in Mahabalipuram which was nominated for the highest Social Impact Award in the year 2011 by BBC. She has also worked in the area of Environment and Social Imapct Assessment Studies (ESIA) and Integrated Water Resource Management. Currently, at SaciWATERs she is engaged in projects on protecting the Urban lakes of Hyderabad.
