Arunima holds a post graduate degree in M.Sc. Urban Policy and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and a graduation degree in B.Tech Urban and Regional Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad.

During the course of her study, she was associated with Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad (ASCI) and Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad (CESS). Her Master’s Thesis titled -The Politics of Planning Megaprojects: A case study of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project throws light on the dynamics of power relations in planning megaprojects and the socio-spatial implications of such projects on the urban space.

Prior to joining SaciWATERs, she worked with Foundation for Democratic Reforms, Hyderabad (FDR) as a Research Associate and dealt with research projects ranging across health, education, judicial and electoral reforms.
