SaciWATERs Co-launches Global Mangrove Alliance India Chapter

SaciWATERs is proud to announce the official launch of the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA) India Chapter, established on 5 April 2025. SaciWATERs co-leads this national initiative alongside Wetlands International South Asia, bringing together 22 member organisations committed to the conservation, protection, and restoration of mangrove ecosystems across India. The GMA India Chapter unites organisations, researchers, practitioners, communities, and policymakers across India under a shared mission aligned with the Global Mangrove Alliance 2030 goals, specifically to halt mangrove loss, double protection, and restore half of the world lost mangroves. The Global Mangrove Alliance is the preeminent global alliance driving mangrove conservation and restoration worldwide. Young Change Makers for Mangroves

SaciWATERs is pleased to announce its association with the Young Change Makers for Mangroves a national level youth digital storytelling contest organized by the Global Mangrove Alliance GMA India Chapter, in collaboration with the Nature Environment and Wildlife Society NEWS and supported by Axis Bank. The initiative invites young people between the ages of 18 and 30 from across India to use digital storytelling as a tool for mangrove conservation awareness. Themes Participants may submit entries under one of two themes Mangrove Biodiversity, or People and Mangroves, exploring the relationships between coastal communities and mangrove ecosystems. Entry Categories Entries may be submitted as a 30 second reel or photo story captured on a mobile phone, or as an original captioned photograph taken on a mobile device. Young Change Makers for Mangroves: Workshop and Sundarbans Visit

SaciWATERs is pleased to announce that the Young Change Makers for Mangroves programme, organised by the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA) India Chapter in collaboration with the Nature Environment and Wildlife Society (NEWS) and supported by Axis Bank, will culminate in a two-day in-person experience for the contest winners. 18 March 2026 Young Change Makers for Mangroves Workshop Kenilworth Hotel, Kolkata 19 March 2026 Field Visit to the Sundarbans The six winners of the digital storytelling contest will come together in Kolkata to participate in the workshop, before embarking on a fully funded visit to the Sundarbans, one of the largest and most ecologically significant mangrove landscapes in the world. We look forward to welcoming the winners and to what promises to be an inspiring and memorable experience at the heart of the mangrove country of India.
