Jayati holds a PhD in Ecosystem-Based and Integrated Water Resources Management from the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal (Research Centre)- the Forest Research Institute (FRI) University, Dehradun, India. She earned her M.Sc. in Limnology and Aquatic Environmental Sciences. Water is a subject close to her heart and forms the core of her professional work. With over 18 years of cumulative research and professional experience in natural resource management, climate change, and sustainability, she has collaborated with environmental consultancies, international development organizations, academic and policy research institutions, and rural community-based organizations. Her professional assignments have spanned the regions of South Asia and Africa, showcasing her diverse experience. Currently, she leads an action research project focused on addressing gendered vulnerabilities in the Sundarbans, India. Additionally, she manages the SaciWATERs team, contributing to a regional project aimed at building coastal resilience in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, where SaciWATERs serves as a knowledge partner and provides capacity building & policy advocacy support. She is also actively involved in initiatives aimed at providing and institutionalizing access to safe water for marginalized urban populations as a human right. In her role overseeing the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainable business portfolio, she assists businesses in developing strategies to integrate sustainability considerations into their operations. Jayati holds certifications in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Framework and Metrics, GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards, Life Cycle Assessment, Carbon and Water Footprints, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (Lead Auditor) and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (Lead Auditor).
